Daphne Rowe founded Pembroke Philanthropy Advisors in 2004. Prior to founding the firm, Daphne managed a multi-million dollar youth development initiative for the William Penn Foundation, became a program officer at the Philadelphia Foundation, and was subsequently named its first director of donor services.

Daphne served as a program officer for a private family foundation, and was trustee and chair of the Valentine Foundation. She was a founding member of the Valentine Foundation’s Visionary Leadership Fund, an endowment dedicated to strengthening organizations that improve opportunities for women and girls in the greater Philadelphia region. She also served as executive director of SEI Investment’s donor advised fund, The SEI Giving Fund.

Daphne has a public policy degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute.

Sue Hone

Sue Hone brings experience from both the nonprofit and investment management industry. Prior to joining Pembroke, she was a Program Coordinator with Home of the Sparrow where she managed several programs and was also responsible for the program administration, reporting and data collection.

She also served on the Board of Directors for Wings for Success. Prior to working in the nonprofit sector, she spent 15+ years with Morgan Stanley Investment Management in client service. Her clients were primarily foundations, endowments and pension plans. She holds a degree in Economics from Fairfield University and holds a certificate in Principles of Fundraising from Villanova University in collaboration with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Rachel Costello, Program Associate and Grants Manager, brings over five years of nonprofit development experience to her position at Pembroke. Previously, she served as a Grants Associate at Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Inc., a nonprofit headquartered in eastern North Philadelphia that serves the Latino community.

In her role, she oversaw the entire grants cycle and was responsible for prospect research, grant writing, editing, submission, and follow-up. Rachel raised more than $7,340,939 at Congreso, and increased grant proposal output by 192% over two years. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Macalester College (Saint Paul, MN).

Martha E. Morse

Martha E. Morse, Senior Analyst, brings experience in grant making and governance to Pembroke’s clients. She is a Harvard Law School graduate, and previously practiced as a corporate attorney, specializing in securities law and mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Morse serves as the Executive Director of the Edna G. Kynett Memorial Foundation and sits on the boards of The Pennsylvania Innocence Project and Bryn Mawr Film Institute and also on the Grants Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation.

She has served on various additional non-profit boards, including The Agnes Irwin School, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, the Breakthrough Collaborative, the Acorn Club, Community Volunteers in Medicine, and The Valentine Foundation, and was a founding member of the Valentine Foundation’s Visionary Leadership Fund.
